7 Less known facts about FIFA 23

FIFA 23 is a football simulation video game published by Electronic Arts. It is the 30th installment in the FIFA series that EA Sports developed, and the final installment under the FIFA banner, and released worldwide on 30 September 2022 for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Google Stadia. However, players who pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition received three days of early access and could play the game from 27 September.

The game is the final under the partnership between EA and FIFA. Future football games by EA without the inclusion of the FIFA name are set to be named under the banner of EA Sports FC.

Much like my Liverpool fandom over the past 20 years, I vacillate between happily obsessive and begrudgingly bewildered with FIFA. Like Liverpool, when FIFA works like a well-oiled machine, play on the field is beautiful, slick, and drives my football-loving brain to elation with dopamine hits. However, FIFA 23 feels like FIFA 22, which was similar to FIFA 21, with additions ranging from mildly impactful to invigorating.

FIFA has focused on one facet of soccer for years: the attack. It’s almost arcade-like when you feel how quickly and smoothly players change pace from a controlled dribble to a sprint. Cross-field balls behind defenders for a winger to rush onto are exhilarating. The much-debated trick stick is hard to master, but even a couple of flicks can launch an audacious stepover or the famous Maradona spin to beat a defender.

EA’s HyperMotion2 technology enables more natural animations between dribbling and shooting, but it’s barely noticeable even during replays. Most goals look similar to those scored in FIFA 22, which isn’t bad. It’s just that HyperMotion2 doesn’t revolutionize the presentation, making it feel like just another yearly update.

7 Less known facts about FIFA 23

1. Women’s representation is being greatly considered:

A first for a woman footballer, the Australian forward even made it to this year’s global cover alongside PSG striker Kylian Mbappé. FIFA 16 was the first entry to introduce women’s football as early as 2015. But FIFA 23 has taken female representation to the next level. Whereas FIFA 16 only comprised 12 women’s international teams, the latest title brings out the best national clubs to the Kick-Off mode. Both the English Women’s Super League and the French Division 1 Féminine are now fully licensed. Gamers may snatch the Champions League trophy just as Olympique Lyonnais did in 2022 or play it like Sam Kerr with Chelsea.

2. Career modes have been upgraded:

In all the previous series the Career Mode allowed players to control teams only at the club level and accept jobs from international teams. However, with the World Cup being a huge part of  FIFA 23, players will likely be able to start Career Mode as international managers.

That way you can make big decisions about your preferred matches, line-ups, team training, and many more. In addition, players can also take control at crucial moments that can change the course of the match. Then you can also add some cutscenes at key points throughout your career to make it memorable.

In this series, the developer also added a personality type that will describe what the character we create is like on and off the field. In addition, in the manager career section, players can use avatars of famous coaches such as Pep Guardiola, Antonio Conte, Jurgen Klopp, and many more.

3. Improvements in gameplay have been brought:

If you have seen the trailer you might have noticed a clip of actual gameplay, that might give you an idea of what the game looks like. The graphics have been made more realistic by using HyperMotion 2.

One of the biggest gameplay changes presented through the trailer is the change to the free kick system which players say is an upgrade over the previous series. The trailer itself displays two aspects of free-kicks.

Players will now find it easy to place players lying behind the wall for protection from low shots.

4. Clubs are still joining!

As we know, Electronic Arts(EA Sports) have contracts with several football clubs as their brand ambassadors. In addition, FIFA also offers to license cooperation with professional football clubs. This is so that they have the right to use some of their property.

For example, such as stadiums, jerseys, and also club names for them to enter into the FIFA game. However, not all clubs like Roma, Lazio, and Inter Millan licenses were successfully obtained for various reasons. One of them is that some clubs already have contracts with competing game developers.

One of the surprising news is that the Italian giant Juventus was missing in FIFA 20 and was renamed Piemonte Calcio. This happened because in 2020 Juventus already had an exclusive contract with the game Pro Evolution Soccer 2020 to fully own their license in the game.

5. World Cup Mode:

The World Cup update that was released during the Russian tournament in 2018 was a massive success among FIFA enthusiasts. And a recent leak has shown that a similar feature was coming to FIFA 23, consisting of four sub-modes: FIFA World Cup 2022, Online Tournament, FIFA World Cup Live, and FIFA World Cup kick-off. Said mode is only due in November, though.

Meanwhile, gamers may bide their time watching the highlights of the soccer season or placing early bets on who will lift the trophy in Doha. Free World Cup betting guides may help punters navigate the best online bookies.

Top guides go beyond mere match result predictions to tackle goal-scoring props, individual awards, and even in-play betting. Thus, even bettors unfamiliar with soccer can benefit from valuable tip-offs. Plus, experts have scoured the web to pick an array of profitable platforms boasting the most rewarding odds

6. Cross-Platform Play:

Hardcore FIFA fans have long awaited the opportunity to share a game with friends playing on a different console. And EA Sports has finally answered their prayers. FIFA 23 is the first entry in the series to feature crossplay right from its very launch.

The downside is that only owners of consoles of the same generation may enjoy this feature. Simply put, PS4 users can face off against Xbox One opponents, whereas PS5 players can launch a game with owners of Xbox Series S/X or PC gamers. As for Nintendo Switch players, cross-platform play is unfortunately off-limits.

7. The End Of An Era:

FIFA 23 will be the last installment in the EA Sports FIFA franchise, but it most certainly doesn’t spell the end of the video game.

In May, EA Sports and FIFA announced their partnership spanning over 20 years will come to an end in the summer of 2023.

After months of negotiations regarding an extension of their current partnership, the two sides could not agree on future terms. While the current contract expires after the 2022 World Cup, EA Sports and FIFA agreed to extend the current deal through the FIFA Women’s World Cup in July and August 2023 to include one final edition.

The EA Sports video game has grown into one of the most successful franchises of all time, with over $20 billion in in-game salines alone, plus the valuable FIFA Ultimate Team game mode valued at approximately $1.2 billion annually.

The game will become EA Sports FC after the expiration of the deal. While the name will be different and the aesthetics of the game could change, there is little about the game’s structure or gameplay that will fundamentally change after the separation.

It sure was a Legendary Era.
